Peace From The River Barada

This mural represents the story of the river Barada transforming into a flying woman and traveling from the Middle East to Central New York.

The Arabic calligraphy verse with the word “Salam” is taken from the Arabic poet Ahmad Shaouki. It translates to, “Peace from the river Barada.” The Barada is in the city of Damascus, Syria, where the artist Nada Odeh was born and raised.
